A Gospel Shaped Life
January 30 @ 9:00 pm - 10:30 pm

Normally, when we begin to think about our sexuality, especial in the context of same sex attractions, we are met with two messages. The first message tells you that if you pray hard enough, if you exercise some greater faith, or meet this powerful man of God, then you are assured to get rid of your same sex attractions. This message has sometimes led many to despair since after they have done what was proposed, their same sex attractions not only remained but became stronger. One is then left disillusioned not sure what is wrong with them.
The second message that you will often receive is to stop denying yourself (that even pastors were doing ‘it’) and look for a sexual/romantic satisfaction with another person of the same sex. Those who have followed this have sometimes ended up shipwrecking their faith.
The Gospel is good news. It is good news to all people. It is good news even to use who experience same sex attractions. Even with all the messages that we receive, the one message we should seek to hold dear is the one about who God says we are and he has done, is doing and will do in our lives. Our hope is that through this sharing is that:
- We can be encouraged to see ourselves in view of God’s larger story as revealed in the
scriptures.
- We can be challenged to hold convictions that are in line with God’s word.
- We can be inspired to live authentically while still holding to Biblical convictions especially in regard to sexual integrity/holiness.
- We can be invited to see the gospel as good news for us too.
