Poem

They won’t like you no more

When they realize

What makes you beautiful

Is your very brokenness.

And just like that,

What beheld beauty

Will behold scorn.

They will look at you like a curse,

Only acknowledge your beautiful

But never call you one.

Because when they do,

They’d be saying you’re normal.

But you are not!

And that conflicts them badly.

They’d rather you’re ugly, smelly, harsh, rough.

They’d rather you’re a cheat, abusive, drug addict,

Everything boyishly bad…

But straight.

And you’re not.

So let me teach you how to wear your own skin,

And not feel ugly or unwanted, because you do soft and beautiful things other boys don’t.

Let me teach you how to sing without condemning your voice.

Let me teach you how to present beauty without feeling short of it.

Your ability is not your sin

Your morality is what determines your sin.

So never allow someone to choose your sexuality over your beauty.

Because what you feel shouldn’t determine what you do.

And when they do,

Let them know,

Maybe God thought He could show that some crooked things can look better than some straight things.
